FBI Mole Cried About Russia Collusion in the Past

Rod Rosenstein just fired back at Donald Trump with a dictionary definition

Trump has zeroed in on, and at times embellished, reports that a longtime US government informant approached members of his campaign in a possible bid to glean intelligence on Russian efforts to sway the election.

Trump has made an unsubstantiated claim that an informant who contacted advisers to his 2016 campaign was a political "spy".

Confirming the existence of a "confidential human source", House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said the intelligence gathering on individuals connected to the Trump campaign started before the official FBI investigation, which begs some questions about who directed it. Trump and his supporters are running with the more dramatic version of events, with the President even making an unprecedented "demand" that the Justice Department investigate the matter.

Giuliani later told CNN that he assumes Flood went to the meeting because the President wanted him there.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Nunes and the other members of the intelligence committees are simply doing their work as appropriate. Mueller's attorneys have sought to delay the request, but a judge ruled against them, saying the trial should commence within 70 days as per law.

But the attendee list for each meeting shifted nearly hourly, with House Speaker Paul Ryan saying Thursday morning that he would attend the first meeting and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi later announcing that Schiff would also attend the first meeting.

"We don't know what happened inside today's DOJ meeting, but I think we can rule out any big revelation that the Federal Bureau of Investigation acted inappropriately", Josh Campbell, a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent turned CNN analyst, tweeted Thursday.

The "Gang of Eight" consists of the top Republican and Democratic members of the House and Senate intelligence committee as well as congressional leaders from both parties.

"You'd want to be very thoughtful about having the FBI, without having a predicated investigation, be monitoring speech in the US, because it's often very hard to tell, is it coming from a nation state?"

"That is kind of in my mind, and maybe I'm a traditionalist, violates a norm and standard of behavior that's always been abided by previous presidents and to me that's bothersome and I think another sign of some erosion of our institutions and our norms and standards", Clapper said.

Both briefings for will be conducted by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, according to the Department of Justice.

Former FBI Director James Comey, who was sacked by Trump previous year, tweeted Wednesday morning that the agency's use of secret informants was "tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country". The FBI began a counterintelligence investigation in July 2016 to determine if Trump campaign associates were co-ordinating with Russian Federation to tip the election.

President Trump says he wants transparency.

If Giuliani files any complaints, they would presumably fall on the desk of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller past year following Comey's ousting. Trump is seeing him that way nonetheless. The request for the latest documents are the latest in a series of subpoenas to the Justice Department for sensitive information.

"And here it's even a step beyond a unsafe point because it's not just directing a criminal investigation or to stop one but anyone, it directly relates to his campaign", she said.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly also reportedly attended the meeting.

"Coupled with Comey's illegally leaked memos, this means the whole thing was a mistake and should never have happened", Giuliani said. The White House gave no evidence to support Trump's claim that President Barack Obama's administration was trying to spy on his 2016 campaign for political reasons.

Schiff said Flood's presence at the meeting was "completely inappropriate".
