Holy Month Of Ramzan Begins After Moon Sighted In Parts Of India

Ramazan 2018: Holy month of fasting starts in Gulf and far East countries from May 17

Grand Mufti Al-Sheikh Abdel Jabbar Macarimbor called on Muslims all over the country to be united in preparation for Ramadan.

The beginning of Ramadan is set by both lunar calculation and physical sighting of the new moon, which specifies when the last day of one lunar month ends and another begins.

The committee for moon-sighting of UAE met after the Maghrib prayers yesterday to announce the date of start of Ramadan.

The holy month of Ramadan will commence from Tomorrow May 17th 2018, after the moon was spotted in Delhi, Lukhnow today.

The final 10 nights of Ramadan include intense prayer and are followed by a three-day holiday called Eid al-Fitr. Popular sayings during this celebration include Eid mubarak (Blessed Eid) and Eid sa'id (Happy Eid).

This trend is further explained by the American fact tank, insisting that although 42% of Muslims in the US pray five times a day and only 43% of them attend mosques weekly, Ramadan remains the second-most-observed of Islam's Five Pillars.

Before dawn to prepare for the next day of fasting, families often wake in the night for a light meal known as "suhoor", eating fruits and vegetables, or a small dish with beans, lentils, bread or rice.

The daily fast will first be broken with a sip of water and some dates at sunset, NBC News reported.

In conflict-affected areas like Palestine and Marawi City, the lone Islamic community in the Philippines, Ramadan fasting would be more hard for Muslim constituents to observe, but their sacrifices are bound to earn more divine rewards, according to Islamic scholars.

For the facility of the people fasting during the holy month, the UAE government has reduced working hours for the public and private sectors. If a person is suffering from illness, is travelling, pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic, chronically ill, menstruating or elderly, then they can be absolved from keeping the fast.
