‘Mega Man 11’ Release Date Confirmed, Double Gear System Explained

'Mega Man 11' trailer reveals release date, new mechanics

The game sees the introduction of new powers including the Speed Gear (which allows youth slow down time) and the Power Gear (which will amp up the power of the Mega Buster).

Mega Man 11 is the latest installment in the series, combining the classic feel of the 2D-platforming game with modern technology. Mega Man 11 will introduce a brand-new Double Gear system, which should dramatically change up the gameplay. Capcom has announced that Mega Man 11 will make its way to the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 2. In previous games, players had to pause the game and enter the menu in order to select weapons. The game will supposedly include PlayStation Vita Remote Play through Wi-Fi and a difficulty selection just like Mega Man 9 and 10. The game features the eponymous hero battling through fiendish platform levels to face a number of bosses (Robot Masters), including Block Man and Fuse Man. Plus as Capcom had previously confirmed, it will be released in 2018 so an October release date doesn't seem entirely out of the question. There's also the Power Gear, which lets Mega Man go beyond his normal power constraints and charge up his attacks for devastating effect.

Double Gear: When at critical health, Mega Man can unleashed his maximum power, allowing for deft maneuvers.

The trailer also gives us our first glimpse at two of Mega Man's foes in Mega Man 11.

In case all of this information isn't exciting enough for Mega Man fans, the title will also boast an exciting exclusive for Nintendo fans!

You can preorder Mega Man 11 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on the official website.
