Demi Lovato's friend asked for ‘no sirens’ in 911 call

Demi Lovato 'awake,' with family at hospital after apparent drug overdose

As the ambulance approaches Lovato's friend asks the dispatcher if the ambulance can turn off their sirens in an apparent attempt not to attract the attention of neighbours.

The dispatcher instructed the caller to "wave" the paramedics down and to put any pets "in a room" after dogs were heard barking in the background. On the song "Sober", she sings the lyrics: "Momma, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore/And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor". Right now, it is still unclear what Lovato may have taken to cause her medical emergency. The call ends when the EMTs arrive and are with the caller.

"I think everybody just wants her to be OK and there's no feeling that I can perceive of [people saying], 'How dare she?' or anything like that, " Lipshutz said.

Lovato's hospitalization comes just weeks after the singer, who has struggled with substance abuse, revealed she had recently suffered a relapse.

Demi Lovato has always been open about her struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues.

A male voice later comes on the line and says they can hear the sirens, and the ambulance may take another little while as it's a "windy street".

When contacted by CNN on Wednesday, a source close to Lovato denied reports she had been treated for an overdose of heroin. TMZ reported that the pop star partied all night on Monday on the Sunset Strip as she celebrates one of her backup dancers birthdays.

The Tell Me You Love Me singer is now recovering following the incident, and has allegedly told pals it has been a huge wake up call. "I make sure I stay on my medications".

A recording from the 911 call made for Demi Lovato's drug overdose has been released and it's so eerily calm, it's actually shocking.

The Disney star has previously sought treatment for her addictions to alcohol, cocaine and OxyContin, most famously in 2010 after punching a backup dancer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers.

"Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support", said the statement from Lovato's representative.
