Family of missing United States student crowdfund for her return: ‘She’s out there’

Police in Missouri respond to possible Mollie Tibbetts sighting

By Thursday afternoon search teams were back in the area, combing the nearby fields for any trace of the missing girl, according to Fox News.

Tibbetts was last seen on July 18th while running in Brooklyn around 7:30 p.m.

The latest came Thursday, when police confirmed that a possible sighting of Tibbetts at a Missouri truck stop turned out not to be her. Kearney police then sent a report to the investigating task force. Her disappearance has gained national attention.

But he says investigators will continue to withhold basic details about the case because they believe it gives them the best chance to solve it.

Calderwood said that her daughter's family and friends set up the Bring Mollie Tibbetts Home Safe Reward Fund, at First State Bank in Brooklyn.

"We're not in the position say who is a suspect, who isn't a suspect or if there are any suspects", Winker told reporters at a press conference in Montezuma. She said the money would be paid to anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa that leads to Tibbetts' safety.

"She's out there. We feel it. Someone knows what happened to Mollie, someone knows where she is, and they need to come forward".

"We believe that Mollie is still alive and if someone has abducted her we plead with you [to let her go]", Tibbetts' mother, Laura Calderwood, said. "I don't know that I have the strength in me, but Mollie is lending me her strength every day, every night".

The couple chatted via text messages and social media on July 18, just before Tibbetts went out for her evening run which, Jack said, was her regular routine.

Ms Tibbetts had been dog-sitting for her boyfriend and her boyfriend's brother, who were out of town when she went missing. "We are very hopeful with the electronic data we are getting back", Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, previously told the Des Moines Register.
