Is collusion a crime?

Trump urges Mueller to admit conflict of interest in pending investigation

The (FBI agent Peter) Strzok report shows a guy off the wall who ran the original investigation hates Trump and claims he's not biased but he hates him.

Mr Mueller is a Republican like Mr Trump, as is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who hired the special counsel, and Attorney-General Jeff Sessions. The strategy may be the latest in Trump's efforts to strip legitimacy from the Mueller probe, which he has long denounced as a "witch hunt".

A White House official told CNN a year ago that Trump interviewed Mueller as a potential replacement for fired FBI Director James Comey.

"He used the word 'should, ' he didn't use the word 'must'".

Trump weighed in a day after Giuliani said colluding with Russian Federation may not even be a crime - raising the possible legal defense even as he lowers the bar following a series of emphatic denials by Trump that there was collusion of any kind.

US President Donald Trump launched a verbal attack on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into allegations of the Kremlin meddling in the 2016 presidential election, calling it a "rigged witch hunt" and "illegal", as it was ignited by a "fraudulent" opposition research dossier.

A knowledgeable source told NBC News that Cohen is willing to inform Mueller that Trump Jr. told his father about the meeting, contradicting Trump Jr.'s congressional testimony in May 2017. Giuliani said. "We have every reason to believe they don't have anything of the President doing anything wrong".

"I can't keep up with Rudy Giuliani's theories of defense". He said the President doesn't have to support his own tweet's claim because it's Mueller's "conflict", not Trump's. I'm not sure I know what exactly what the conflict is.

He appeared to be referencing a dispute over golf fees at Trump's Virginia golf club that was reported in the New York Times.

It was not immediately clear what the President meant when he claimed there were conflicts of interests involving Mueller.

He further revealed that he had a "conflict of interest" with Mueller, adding that the two had a "nasty business relationship" and that he had turned him down as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director.

The evolving argument from Trump and his lawyers comes just a week after Michael Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney, asserted that Trump knew in advance about a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016 between his son Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer.

Trump also argued Mueller could not be impartial in the probe because he worked for a law firm that had represented Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"There is credible evidence that the president of the United States has committed obstruction of justice and possibly a conspiracy to undermine our elections", Blumenthal said.
