Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool players at different fitness levels'

Signings

Speaking after Liverpool FC'S 5-0 win over Napoli in their penultimate pre-season fixture whether the Reds would be doing some late transfer business, Klopp replied: "Yes".

The Croatian was given three weeks off after his exploits at the World Cup, where he suffered defeat in the final against France having put in a mammoth defensive display in the semi-final against England.

Liverpool fans may have a point on this one.

The 25-year-old will be a vital cog in the Liverpool machine as they attempt to push on and become real contenders for the Premier League title, and Robertson has been nothing but praiseworthy of the Brazilian.

The Scot added: "From day one he settled in quite quickly". The France worldwide was heavily tipped to join Liverpool prior to the World Cup but the deal was scuppered after the Reds tried to re-negotiate his £53m asking price citing his injury record.

And, of course, his comments in the World Cup were always going to be brought up. The former England worldwide believes that only Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk would make it into Pep Guardiola's team.

That seemed to go down well with Salah, who reacted with a laugh.

Blood began streaming from Milner's forehead and while the injury is likely no more than superficial, manager Jurgen Klopp described it as "the big shadow over that game".

"Dejan didn't train so far", explained Klopp. "He was very comfortable on the ball five minutes in and it meant we could show for it and he was starting most of our play, so it was a very good performance from him".

"I did not see two better centre-halves in the Champions League (final) - only that they were more ruthless".

"He was for a long time in his youth an outfield player [and] he must have been a very good outfield player as well because he's really good in that".

We like working together - Mike Gordon, (sporting director) Michael Edwards and myself.
