Trump tries to dunk on LeBron James in tweet

LeBron James Lakers

He sits down with @donlemon at the opening of his new elementary school for at-risk children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

James appeared on CNN Monday in an interview with Don Lemon which was re-aired Friday night.

James has also enjoyed support from Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who tweeted Saturday: "It should be beneath the dignity of a sitting POTUS to take racist shots at D. Lemon and Lebron James". "I like Mike!", Donald's highly opinionated tweet read.

In an interview with Mr. Lemon on CNN, Mr. James said he feels that the president is "using sports to kinda divide us".

Trump's first comments about the National Football League and players who protest during the anthem came later that month.

Lemon's questions mostly focused on James's time off the court, covering the I Promise model inspired by James's childhood search of sanctuary away from crime and violence in Akron. James also matter-of-factly stated to Lemon that he would never sit across from Trump, but definitely would sit around with former President Barack Obama. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not return a request for comment, nor did James's agency Klutch Sports Group.

LeBron has yet to speak out about Donald's latest slamming tweet but it will be interesting to see what he says, if anything!

Additionally, Trump's insult has highlighted a number of comparisons between Trump's and James' accomplishments and behavior, many of which do not redound to Trump's benefit - most obviously, James' new school and Trump University.

Back in September, after Trump said Steph Curry wouldn't be welcome at the White House, LeBron came to his rival's defense, reminding the president that the Golden State Warriors star "had already said he ain't going" and "therefore ain't no invite".

James announced last month that he would soon leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second time, this time to play with the Los Angeles Lakers. Not one word or follow-up that takes issue with anything either man has actually said. "I know the streets that they walk".
