Christchruch Attack

The third and final Test match of Bangladesh's tour, scheduled to start in Christchurch today, was quickly scrapped.

Bangladesh's global cricket team survived the mass shooting in a New Zealand mosque by a split second.

However, when the players were about to enter the mosque, a woman warned them that there was shooting inside and the team took cover on the floor of their bus.

After arriving at the site, the team were reportedly told to stay on the bus outside the mosque on Deans Avenue before travelling back to Hagley Oval on foot.

The attack led to a premature end to the Bangladesh cricket team's tour of New Zealand.

"When any foreign team comes to our country, we always ensure proper security", Mr. Hassan said.

"We (are) extremely lucky. never want to see (these) things happen again. pray for us", Rahim tweeted.

All the Bangladesh national cricket team players were escorted by heavily armed New Zealand police with loaded sub-machine guns to the entrance gate of the airport.

The players eventually returned to their hotel, shaken, distressed and in no mental state to play cricket, Mr Isam said. "It will take time for them to recover".

At least one gunman killed 49 people and wounded more than 20 during Friday prayers at two New Zealand mosques in the country's worst ever mass shooting, which Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern condemned as "a terrorist attack". "I think everything changes now", White was quoted as saying by

Mohammad Isam, a journalist from ESPN Cricinfo, filmed the players as they made their way from the bus to the ground.

The team's cricketer Tamim Iqbal Khan wrote: "Entire team got saved from active shooters".

"I've spoken to my counterpart at Bangladesh cricket - we agree it's inappropriate to play cricket at this time", said New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White. The test match in Christchurch was the first to be canceled since 2002, when a match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi was called off after a terrorist bombing in the city.

Mario Villavarayen, a strength and conditioning coach with the team, told New Zealand media the players did not see the shooter but heard shots.

Bangladesh's coach, former England wicketkeeper Steve Rhodes, said: "Obviously the whole experience has cut up the whole team and staff". "We are all so saddened by the awful tragedy in Christchurch, and out of respect, neither our players nor team management will comment further on the Plunket Shield championship until the completion of the final round". The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) CEO feels that this will have far-reaching implications on the global sports being hosted in the country.

"We still love New Zealand", he added. I would describe it as an unprecedented act of violence, an act that has absolutely no place in New Zealand.
