EA is investigating why Anthem is crashing PS4s

Sony Offering Refunds for Anthem PS4 Owners

No one will want to take the chance of breaking their hardware just to play a single game.

Following yesterday's story about the widespread issues with Anthem on PS4 that have been causing consoles to crash, publisher EA has now responded and is asking players for help. One particular concerning report comes from a user that was playing on a Call of Duty: WWII limited edition PS4 and his console is completed bricked, meaning it is completely unplayable. Overall, it's pretty damning for Anthem, especially as Bioware hasn't addressed the complaints yet. Now, it seems the title is crashing some player's consoles. Instead of my system eventually going into rest mode, I'll wake up the next day to find it unresponsive until I manually push the power button.

The game's been affected by crashes since its launch via EA's subscription services a little over two weeks ago, though it didn't reach PS4 until the official release date on February 22.

It appears that PlayStation 4 players are experiencing a number of technical issues with Anthem with players flocking to the Anthem Reddit to voice their concerns.

Players who've requested a refund due the issue have reportedly done so with varying degrees of success.

To request a refund from Sony, you can contact PlayStation Support. The console's fan has been putting in major work with a lot of recent games like Spider-Man and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but Anthem has taken it to a new level. PC owners and Xbox users have also reported similar issues, with the game suddenly forcing a hard reset.

BioWare is a talented team and has already shown their commitment to fixing the game, but will gamers and EA stand by Anthem long enough? Whatever the cause, there's now a long list of tweets at the AskPlaystation Twitter account asking for refunds due to the issue. When a PlayStation 4 restarts after a hard crash, players are prompted to report crash data and the system runs a check on its drives.
