Israeli forces kill Palestinian in West Bank - Palestinian medics; Israel reviewing

An Israeli soldier chases a Palestinian protester during clashes following a demonstration against Jewish settlements west of Ramallah

He said Ahmad Manasra was in the auto behind and got out of his vehicle to help the wounded man, who had been shot in the abdomen. The statement did not, however, identify the soldier's intended target, and the military said that "Details regarding the incident are being reviewed and the incident will be examined".

The Palestinian man was dead upon arrival at Beit Jala Hospital. As Mr Manasra was returning to his auto, the soldiers shot him, Mr Hmeid said.

The Israeli soldier who shot Manasra allegedly did so by accusing him of throwing stones, but eyewitnesses at the scene reported that Israeli forces at the checkpoint fired live bullets into the auto of a Palestinian family consisting of a man and his wife and children.

Spokesperson of the Palestinian Red Crescent, Ahmad Jibril, told Ma'an that Israeli forces opened fire at the vehicle in Amman Street, prevented Red Crescent teams from approaching Hamdan and Nuri's bodies and opened fire at their ambulance before Israeli soldiers transferred the bodies to inside the Huwwara military camp. Dozens of young Palestinians clashed with Israeli forces in response, with local reports saying several were wounded as Israeli troops opened fire at the protesters.

"There were no clashes, no stone throwing, nothing at all", he said.

Israeli settlers punctured 17 Palestinian-owned vehicles and sprayed racist graffiti on some in the Battir town west of southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem, overnight Wednesday.

Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war.
