Manchester United boss Solskjaer rejects Neville's remarks on priorities

Wolverhampton's Diogo Jota celebrates scoring their second goal against Manchester United on Saturday

Despite having much of the ball and countless opportunities to put themselves in front, the Red Devils never really troubled the Wanderers.

"You're always measured on results, but we played a good game against Arsenal", said Solskjaer.

Under the caretaker boss, Man United managed to claw down the gap between then and the other top-four sides but this loss to the Gunners have shown them that they still need to fight hard.

"It was a big step backwards, I have to say".

The 2-1 victory at Molineux thanks to goals by Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota means Wolves are in the semi-finals for the first time in 21 years and are looking to win the trophy for the first time since 1960.

United's second successive defeat brought an abrupt end to Solskjaer's honeymoon period, leading him to give his side an honest post-match appraisal.

Speaking at his Friday morning press conference, Solskjaer said, via the club's official app: "We're still getting players back".

"Very disappointing tonight, though, that we're not in the semis". So yes, we can go all the way but you've got to be lucky and good along the way.

Solskjaer will have two weeks to mull over the performance while a number of his players head off to join their national teams.

"Sometimes when you say "on the break" people take it as "oh, they're going to sit on top of the ball" but no, that's not what they do".

"Wolves have already beaten Liverpool under the lights in the FA Cup, in round three, but Jurgen Klopp made a lot of changes for that game, and I don't see Solskjaer doing the same".

"It means a lot, the FA Cup is the oldest competition there is, we played well and we achieved this with the awesome support of our fans, pushing us, believing in us, the noise was fantastic and we did it together", Nuno told a news conference.

"I didn't think we had enough quality in the last third, enough combination play".
