After my first introduction to the french wardrobe and my determination on not buying clothing that I really don’t need or want I’ve been looking for new clothing. I had a little list of stuff that I really needed to complete my wardrobe. Now that I’ve started my new job I really needed to get some stuff.

My list:

  • White/grey/black t-shirt/tops/tanks
  • white blouse
  • black pants
  • shorts
  • mid heal boot (black)
  • ballet flats (black)
  • leather bag
  • handbag

When you look at that list you can see that I made this a little while ago, because it says I need a leather bag. I’m not going to buy the leather bag, because I want to reduce my usage of animal products as much as possible. But I’m going to look for a nice bag that I can use on a daily basis. I do want a bag that has the same quality as a leather bag would have, so it should be able to be firm and have a decent size. I have some idea’s, but I don’t need it that much, because I’m bringing my work laptop in a special bag that I already owned (the bag work would give me was going to be a leather one, so I refused that).

I did buy some other stuff from my list, and while I was looking for items I actually used the list on Rank-A-Brand, none of the clothing brands score above ‘C’, which isn’t good. But from what I’ve read this is mostly the result of the company either not stating anything about it and environment. Although I really want to improve the ‘green’-factor in my wardrobe, right now I really needed new stuff, but I just couldn’t afford it right now. This actually makes me feel bad, so hopefully I’ll be able to invest a bit more in more ecofriendly clothing in the future.

1 black pair of pants by Mango.
Mango scores a ‘D‘, mostly because it’s not being clear about what they do. So you could assume they don’t do much, because I’m sure they would state it if they would.

3 basic t-shirts by Vera Moda

Vera Moda scored a ‘D‘ as well. The shirts I bought had a little label on them that said ‘Confidence in Textiles“. This means the textile being used to produce the clothing is being tested for harmful substances. You can read more about it on the website. I did buy other shirts at first, which where made out of ecological cotton, but they just didn’t fit that well, so I returned them…

I also bought 1 pair of flats. Which I bought at a store ranked ‘E‘.

Buildingawardrobe4

I actually feel ashamed for buying there and I didn’t want to post them here. But I wanted to show how hard it is to get shoes that are ranked higher, because non of the brands shown on the website are a ‘D’ or higher. Now I know this site isn’t holy, because they don’t show all the brands and I know there are some brands that offer vegan shoes. So I’m gonna save money and get better stuff.

Right now my list has reduced a bit,

  • White/grey/black t-shirt/tops/tanks
  • white blouse
  • black pants
  • shorts
  • mid heal boot (black)
  • ballet flats (black)
  • leather bag
  • handbag
