I’m alive!! I didn’t die (except on the battlefield, twice) from heat or whatever. Temperatures where incredibly high over the weekend which didn’t allow for a lot of training (or movement what so ever). But I took part in the weapon demo and the show fight on Sunday and I totally loved it. Since pictures say more then words, here are some of the pictures I took over the weekend.
Ow look, a shield wall. See what happens when I trow myself into that wall!!
We arrived Thuesday around 17:30, so we unpacked our cars and started setting up camp. We where stationed on a little field near the entrance of Archeon
As always I was up early. So Friday morning I started with oatmeal (yes, cold). Around 9:00 more people arrived and a fire was made to boil water for coffee. My little French Press was perfect that day.
Since it was 35+ degrees I bought the boys some ice-cream after the fight and myself a slush puppy (crushed ice with sirup). In the evening the rest ordered pizza and I heated up a jar called ‘Mexican bean stew’ and roasted a pita bread.
On Saturday and Sunday we where provided with food. But since that was mostly animal based I opened up a can of chickpea’s, some couscous and veggies and made this. In the evening there was a BBQ. I had salad and curly fries…
Of course, this is was the extension pack in the shower looked like every morning. And then it was time to pack. Even though I bought a lot of stuff, I still ended up having more room in my car on the way back. I guess I’m getting better at this.
Before going here I was hoping there would be an weapons merchant so I could buy a weapon. So I actually brought quite a bit of money. I didn’t buy a weapon, but I did buy some other stuff that I needed, or wanted 😛
Since I’m having more trouble when people use my stuff to cook animal products with I bought my own cooking pot. All I have to do now is make sure this one doesn’t get used to cook meat. So I might make a mark in it so I can tell if it’s mine. I already had a beaded neckless, but no hanger. So I got this one. Also, I bought a nice pin to keep my cloak together for the events when temperatures are lower. Also, leg warps for when I’m fighting or to keep my legs warm.
This was the stuff where i spend money I didn’t plan spending money on. I bought 5 meters of table woven straps + 20 meters of linen wire. Of course, I didn’t just buy it for fun but because of the fabric I bought. This handwoven diamond pattern fabric has two colours (green and blue). I’m going to make an apron dress out of this and buy some nice blue linnen to make a dress that goes under that. I’m going to use the tablet woven strap to make straps for the dress and put the rest of it on the lower piece of the dress. This is going to be my ‘fancy’ dress that I will wear at viking bankets.
